Zentech Manufacturing, Inc., the mid-Atlantic region’s premiere provider of electronics contract manufacturing services, continues the execution of their growth strategy with today’s announcement of the acquisition of Colonial Assembly & Design (CA&D).

Located in Fredericksburg, Va., Colonial Assembly & Design has a thirty-year legacy of outstanding performance as a prime contractor for electronics systems design and manufacturing for the Department of Defense and in the commercial aviation sectors.

The acquisition provides tremendous synergy with Zentech’s established customer set in the DOD and military C4ISR (Command, Control, Computers, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) sectors while also providing enhanced engineering, product design, circuit design, machining, over-molded cable assembly and wire harnessing capabilities to the Zentech portfolio.

Matt Turpin, President and CEO of Zentech commented, “We are extremely excited by the synergies created by this acquisition as Colonial Assembly & Design’s customer set aligns well with our current customers and provides opportunities into new program activity within both the DOD and commercial aviation sectors. Colonial Assembly & Design has an outstanding core team of experienced, tenured and dedicated employees, and it is my pleasure to welcome them to the Zentech team. CA&D offers tremendous design engineering, manufacturing, test and complex cable assembly capabilities that, when combined with Zentech’s current capabilities, provide a complete solution across the entire electronics engineering and manufacturing requirements matrix”.

As previously announced, New Spring Mezzanine, the dedicated mezzanine fund of New Spring Capital, has provided a combination of mezzanine debt and equity financing to Zentech Manufacturing. The proceeds of the transaction are being used to provide capital for the future growth of the company.

Evaluation of Stencil Technology for Miniaturization

12/22/2017 | Neeta Agarwal, et al.*
SMT stencil printing technology continually evolves to keep pace with device miniaturization technologies. Printed circuit board assemblers have numerous new technology options to choose from, and need to determine the most effective ones to produce the highest quality and most reliable solder interconnections.

Solder Printing Process Inputs Impacting Distribution of Paste Volume

12/14/2017 | Marco Lajoie and Alain Breton, C-MAC Microelectronics
The volume of solder deposition, like any process, has variations that may be characterized by a statistical distribution curve, whether normal or non-normal. As complexity, density, cost and reliability requirements increase, there may be value in narrowing the distribution curve. It is common sense that less variation serves the interest of quality of the more complex and dense circuit boards.
